Exercise in itself is useless for fat loss, unless…

It’s useless unless you spend at least five days per week working out hard.

You want to lose fat. You want it yesterday.

Naturally, due to the media you turn to a gym to exercise away the calories in hope of a better body.

Four weeks later you realise that your super sexy body isn’t appearing quite as fast a you hoped. If at all.

The average person will burn 60 calories per hour just sitting around doing nothing, existing. A pound, a single pound of fat, holds 3500 calories. Remember that.

You diligently plod away at the treadmill or bike or step class (whichever floats your boat) and the friendly and comfortable machines tell you that after an hour you have burnt 400  calories, if you’re lucky.

400.

Sixty of which you would have burnt sitting on the train home. That leaves you with 340 calories burned above what you would normally burn that day.

3500 calories (remember that was one pound of fat) divided by 340 (the actual number burned during a workout) is 10.29. Lets say ten for ease of numbers; that’s ten hours on a treadmill to burn one pound of fat. JOY.

My point here, again, is that if you want to lose body fat you have to change your diet. Eat less. Eat less. Eat less.

Eat less sugary, processed foods. If the food you go to put in your mouth is not the following, then really consider how motivated you are to lose fat.

Meat

Fish

Vegetable

Fruit

Nut

Seed

Dairy

Water

Tea

Coffee

And no, just because dairy milk chocolate  has “dairy” on the front does not get it on the list.

Alcohol is not on that list either. Handle it.

Use your honest brain when eating, not your “this won’t hurt” brain.
